German Bundespresident Joachim Gauck conferred physicist Prof. Dr. Henry Mantsch, A.v. Humboldt fellow from 1966/67, the Bundesverdienstkreuz for building scientific bridges between Canada and Germany during his state visit to Canada last year. Prof. Mantsch, who had worked with the Nobel Laureat Prof. Herzberg at the National Research Centre in Ottawa in the field of molecular spectroscopy, was a bridge builder of outstanding quality who had paved the way for many young German and Canadian scientists to work and do research in an international framework.
Prof. Mantsch will be attending our upcoming Kolleg presenting his talk “Time in Physics”.
